Dr Alexandra Campbell is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre for Marine Bio-Innovation and the Sydney Institute of Marine Sciences (SIMS). Her research focuses on interactions between marine habitat-formers and organisms that consume, foul or infect them. She is broadly interested in how changing environmental conditions may influence these crucial interactions. Recently, her focus has been on environmentally mediated diseases of seaweeds, which form underwater forests and are showing signs of global decline. She continues to work towards understanding whether such diseases (rather than environmental changes directly) may be involved in declines and range shifts of these and other important habitat-forming organisms, with a broad aim to understand processes that may help predict, prevent or ameliorate the loss of species from ecologically valuable ecosystems.
