Morgan Pratchett

Tropical Fish

Professor Morgan Pratchett is a research fellow within the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies at James Cook University, researching the effects of disturbances and community resilience in coral reef ecosystems. His main areas of expertise include effects of climate change and outbreaks of crown-of-thorns starfish on corals and coral reef fishes, as well as differential vulnerability and resilience of coral reef organisms. A key component of this research involves understanding synergistic effects of fishing, habitat degradation and climate change on coral trout. This research is critical for understanding likely changes in coral reef communities, and associated changes in the goods and services derived from these important ecosystems.
